Where doctors live, and why
Nine in the morning is the surgeon's evening. The night shift ended an hour ago, and now there is a plate of idlis, a street that is properly awake, and the small human luxury of watching a city do its morning while your body insists it is midnight. This is the detail most professions never think about: doctors live their leisure at inverted hours, so they need neighbourhoods that are excellent in DAYLIGHT, not just after eight. Add the other constraint, the call that requires you back inside fifteen minutes, and medicine's residential map draws itself: close to the hospital, alive at ten in the morning. Two cities, mapped.

Mumbai: the mile and its home
The city's hardest medicine happens on the Parel mile, the teaching hospital belt where careers are forged on night shifts, and its natural home has always been Dadar West: ten minutes away, 8.87 on our blend, with a 9.2 day-to-day that crucially includes the best MORNINGS in the area, the flower market, the parks, a street life that peaks in daylight. Prabhadevi (9.15) is the consultant's upgrade on the same geography. The pattern holds for the private ring too: the Bandra hospitals keep their doctors in Bandra West, close enough for the call and pleasant enough for the strange hours between them.
Bengaluru: institutions and their orbits
Bengaluru's great medical institutions sit against Koramangala's edge, which quietly makes the startup neighbourhood a hospital neighbourhood too (7.78; the two tribes share cafés without noticing each other). Old Airport Road's hospital cluster is served by Indiranagar (8.91), and the northern hospitals by Hebbal (6.87), which also happens to suit the growing tribe of doctors whose conferences make the airport a monthly commute. Same rule everywhere: the white coat lives inside the fifteen-minute circle.
The daylight test
Borrow the tribe's filter even if your shifts are ordinary: visit a shortlisted neighbourhood at ten on a weekday morning. Some localities are theatres that only open in the evening; a doctor coming off nights finds them shuttered and depressing. The ones on this page pass the test, Dadar most famously: its day-to-day score is earned across the whole clock, not just after dark. A neighbourhood's morning is the most under-checked thing in Indian flat hunting, and the profession that lives at dawn has already done the checking.
The honest caveat
Medicine's pay curve starts brutally late: a resident cannot rent Prabhadevi, and this page's addresses map the profession's arc, not its first year. The transferable part is the constraint logic, radius first, daylight second, quiet absolutely (a blackout-curtained bedroom that actually darkens is a medical instrument). Whether a specific flat delivers those three is exactly what a listing's photos half-reveal and half-hide, and reading that gap is our whole job.
