Map your Ahmedabad onto Mumbai
The fastest way to choose is translation. If your evenings were C.G. Road and Sindhu Bhavan's café mile, you are looking for Khar West or Santacruz West: the same walkable social density, graded up. If home was an SG Highway tower township with everything inside the gate, Powai is that sentence in Mumbai grammar, lake included. If you liked Maninagar's settled, everything-nearby practicality, Borivali and Kandivali carry it, along with the corridor's deepest Gujarati fabric: the thalis, the farsan counters, the societies where your festivals set the calendar.
What the rent multiple actually buys
Stated honestly: you will pay a multiple of your Ahmedabad rent for a fraction of your Ahmedabad space, and no table can soften that. What the table CAN show is what the multiple purchases: five of the seven neighbourhoods above score 9 or better on day-to-day life, walkability runs at a perfect 10 across the belt, and the evening does not need a car. Ahmedabad gives you rooms; Mumbai charges you for streets. The movers who stay happy are the ones who wanted the streets.
The work geography
Ahmedabad's professional exits mostly point at three Mumbai clusters: BKC and the finance belt (Santacruz West and Khar West put it one short hop away), the corporate campuses of Powai and the eastern belt (Powai itself, or Thakur Village with a commute), and Andheri's media and services sprawl (Andheri West is the compromise built for it). Test your real commute at nine in the morning, not eleven at night; Mumbai's traffic is a different animal from the 132-ft Ring Road, and the local train, not the car, is usually the honest answer.
The evening shift
One honest cultural note: Amdavadi evenings are built around food, family, and streets that peak early; Manek Chowk winds down while Mumbai's evening economy is still lacing its shoes. The evening-scene scores in our reads measure the depth of options, not a prescription for how you spend them. A 9.1-evening neighbourhood simply means the city stays open as late as you decide to; what you do with that is still yours, and plenty of movers discover they wanted the option more than they expected.
